TD4WD Club Members took to the trail to practice 4x4 skills during Skills Day.

Obstacles included:

A steep loose surface hill to practice going as slow as possible while maintaining momentum.

A boulder crossing requiring a spotter and a steep hill needing a properly timed turn part way up.  Drivers learned tire placement and braking techniques.

A steep loose hill, with a nasty step, where one brave driver demonstrated getting sideways.  The wise driver used his winch in a timely manner to prevent a roll over and safely get up the hill.

A rocky hill that participants practiced self-winching to pull themselves up.

A “rock-garden” to practice their rock driving techniques.

Even the obstacle by-passes were challenging to stock vehicles, and to one vehicle’s whose 4WD wasn’t working.  All made it through safely and learned useful techniques for their future explorations.  To join see TD4Wheelers.org.
